Twisted hazel is grown for its attractive outline and cheerful yellow catkins in late winter. Broad, sharply toothed mid-green leaves appear in mid-spring but it is for the contorted shape of its curiously twisted shoots that it is mainly grown for. Perfect for wild gardens or people looking for something very striking and different. The lovely pendant and pale yellow catkins that appear on bare branches in late winter are a pleasure to behold. Fully hardy, they prefer sun or semi-shade and fertile, well-drained soil. Corkscrew Hazel’s native species was discovered in a hedgerow in Gloucester in about 1863. They can be grown in small gardens and containers.
Height & Spread in Maturity: Up to 3m x 2m / 10ft x 7ft.
Twisted Hazel trees special features: Twisted shoots and yellow catkins appear on bare branches in winter.
The tree is watered before being carefully packed by one of our experienced staff on site. It comes in a cardboard box lined with straw. (We try to use as much recycling material as possible) The box is addressed to the customer or a specified name and address and sent out overnight delivery to arrive on requested dates.
Please note the size of the tree that you are ordering, as our trees are provided for our clients to plant themselves, which may appear at a small size rather than the fully grown tree as shown in the photos. To find out more information, please visit our Delivery & Returns page.
